The main hall

The Annual Mount Pleasant Horticultural and Agricultural Show has been held for over 150 years, and is a staple on the South Australian Show Calendar. Although last year’s cancellation was a great blow to our community, the Show Society held a successful one this year and will continue to do so.

The Mt Pleasant Street Party & Parade

Held every year on the first Saturday in December for over thirty years, the Parade and following Street Party are hugely popular, and the community comes together to celebrate and enjoy the festivities.

Christmas Street Party and Parade - entries

With only a few weeks to go, we are getting super excited about this years Christmas Parade and Street Party. This year it is being held on Saturday 2nd December 2023. With the help of our volunteers, we are currently working through the nitty gritty of the event to try and make it as enjoyable for everyone as possible. To do this, we need more of the following:

  • Parade entrants

  • Stallholders

Parade entrants, please email: mp.streetparty@gmail.com to request a form.

Christmas Parade

The major element of our event is the Christmas Street Parade. Starting at Talunga Park around 5:30pm, the parade heads down the main street of Mount Pleasant, ending at the Soldiers' Memorial Hall where the Street Party begins once Father Christmas arrives. We'd love for your club, community group or business to dress up and have some fun. Build a float to promote yourselves if you wish or just simply march along as you lead Father Christmas to the finish line. Should you wish to join us, please email mp.streetparty@gmail.com with your details and an information pack will be sent to you.

Street Party

If you would like to have a market stall at the Street Party, applications are now open. Your stall could be for information about your club, business or group. It could also be to sell your wares - food, crafts, collectables - the options are endless.

Don't forget to return your applications soon. If you haven't already reached out to get a form, please do so quickly. There are still spaces, but they are filling up. Looking forward to seeing you all there! Please email mp1.streetparty@gmail.com with your information so that an application pack can be sent to you.

Father Christmas is always a welcome sight.

Crowds of up to a thousand have attended the parade and party.

Red Cross Garden Party

Held every February for nearly thirty years, the Glen Devon Garden Party is hosted by the Red Cross in the magnificent grounds of Glen Devon, owned by Hugh and Fiona MacLachlan.

For almost all of that time, our special guest speaker has been the wonderful Sophie Thomson - gardening presenter on Gardening Australia - and a fount of all knowledge regarding gardens and the plants and animals that inhabit them. The event is scheduled for 15th February next year.
