The Amber Animals

The restored Horsey Gator in 2023. Pictured from left are John Bowd, Peter Wilde and Councillor Don Barrett.

John Bowd (left) assisted by Peter Wilde, took on the job of restoring the animals and placing them with ‘feet’ so they wouldn’t deteriorate as quickly as previous.

Croc at Birdwood Primary School (no longer there)

This snake was situated (we think) at the Birdwood Primary School, and now resides in the driveway of a private residence in Birdwood.

We suspect this was one of Rex’s creations but can’t confirm it. It was situated on the National Motor Museum old High School site (opposite the current Birdwood High School). This is a google street view photo from 2013.
